Spud-tastic! (or ‘comments on raw potatoes’)

hubbie's hands/potatoes growing!
it is an interesting fact (well, ish) that one of the posts on this blog that has received the most comments, i think, is one on raw potatoes. Well, it wasn’t on that topic, it was really on growing yr own veg, but in it i made a chance comment about not eating raw potatoes, and the whole world went wild!

well, not the whole world, obviously, but a few peeps who enjoy eating raw potato and aren’t afraid to say so.

the post is here

if you’re interested, or considering taking up raw potatoes as a healthy snack… lots of advice on the topic (in ‘comments’, not from me!)

funny how we can’t predict what posts will be picked up when people google certain things, and things us bloggers THINK will be interested are sometimes not, like this post, perhaps!

The whole idea of eating raw potatos is just silly….people shouldn’t do it or even think about it. Raw t-bags on the other hand…really good!

yeah, someone commented (on the original post) that their fave thing was to sprinkle salt on their raw potatoes before eating.
think i’d have to sprinkle a WHOLE lot more than that on my raw potatoes before eating, and perhaps have consumed a bottle or 2 of plonk!

I don’t know what the beef is about eating raw potatos. I’ve done it all my life. Someone said something about making sure there are no “eyes” on them…don’t know why anyone would want to eat those anyway. I like them plain, especially the little tiny white potatos that are about the size of a golf ball or smaller. I just pop them in my mouth. I eat a lot of raw veggies and despite all of the hooplah about Atkins, I’ve lost more weight by filling up on fruit and veggies, still eating meat and cheeze for at least one meal a day. I work out a lot, I think the carbs and starch in potatos give me an energy boost.

Someone said their poisonous, hmmm. Don’t know about that. I’ve been through survival training in a number of places as a naval aviator and their are a lot of tubers out there which you find underneath flowers that are not only edible, but they taste like potatos and can save your life. Exactly the same color and consistency.
